[Dutch Lock Down Day Three Hundred Seventy]
One of the habits that I well and truly miss that has gone the way of all flesh is getting up around five in the morning.
It fell away at some point when one of the kids was sick or I was stressed or some other perfectly valid excuse, but just hasn’t returned.
There’s always a Really Good Reason ™ but I also truly LOVE the quiet morning time.
When I get to code.
And get started MY way.
But first the news:
- Coronavirus infections at highest level since mid-January
- First Covid-proof vacation experiment to Greek resort in April
- Dutch government announces plans to speed up coronavirus vaccinations
I really started yearning for this habit again when I was laid off two weeks ago but, again, there’ve been EXCELLENT reasons to ignore the urge – Girl Twin was sick.
Then I was sick.
My throat is still sore, I still have snot action, so I’ve cancelled the session with my personal trainer, but I’m still going to walk 10,000 steps.
And get up around five something tomorrow morning.
And that starts with going to bed earlier.
Last night I managed to get into bed by nine thirty, which is about thirty minutes earlier than I have been getting to bed. Tonight I’m aiming for thirty minutes earlier than last night. Tomorrow I’m going for eight thirty.
Because, yes, I’m still recovering from a mild cold. And it’s likely that one of the minions will get sick at some point, but when I’m *barely* getting enough sleep each night because of my bedtime / wake time, when there’s interruption, it’s a catastrophe.
But when I’m getting PLENTY of sleep and there’s an interruption, it’s an annoyance.
I think the earlier bedtime will help.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
Wish me luck.
