I Have Tried Writing This Post For Days And

the_openstack_logo-svg-1It’s still not shaping up correctly, so I’m going to go old style which is to say that I’m going to write exactly what I’m thinking, or not exactly, but something close.

Something stream of consciousness ish.

ISH.

Don’t judge.

Remember that time when I said:

But then an invitation comes along and you get all giddy cause it comes along because of a year’s worth of work and I know, I’m being vague, and I promise to post details if it all works out…

Normally when I go speak at conferences it’s because I’ve applied months in advance and been accepted and sent the budget up the management chain and received approval and arranged travel and written an abstract and practiced the demo and tested and practiced and planned.

And.

THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.

Last week I was invited to go speak at OpenStack Days Mountain West but not just any talk. No, participating on a panel. But not just any panel.

No.

THE FUTURE OF OPENSTACK PANEL

But getting together that kind of money last minute? In December?

NOPE.

So it really didn’t look like it was going to happen, but then one department gave me a little bit and another department gave me a little bit and then another company gave a little bit, too.

And I’M GOING TO UTAH.

And I’m so totally not thinking about, let alone being intimidated by, the kickass amazing the moderator and the other three panelists.

Is there a “when” to this trip? Is there??? I’ll be in Idaho the end of this month. Just sayin’.

There IS! 06-11 December! The first three days, 06-08 will be conference
focused, but I’m staying until the eleventh because the flight was
massively cheaper if I stayed longer. Thoughts?

Finals. Rather, the week before finals, which is essentially the same roadblock.

          Ah, fair enough.
