This is something I still have percolating in the back of my brain that bubbles to the foreground every few weeks. Along with the STEM podcast, long term career goals, and several other projects that I want more time to focus on this, that, and the other.
Y’know, in my copious spare time.
But in the meantime, if you also want to start your own percolations and you can get to Groningen the weekend of Friday, May 20, 2016 at 6:00 PM – Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 9:30 PM (CEST) for StartUp Weekend Groningen Music & Sound Edition.
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event where developers, creators, designers, marketers, product managers, startup enthusiasts and more come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups! Startup Weekend is a weekend-long, hands-on experience where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable.
This edition will carry the theme of Music and Sound. The definition of sound is: mechanical vibrations transmitted through an elastic medium, traveling in air at a speed of approximately 331 meters per second at sea level. Sounds great, doesn’t it? But sound is so much more than just a bunch of mechanical vibrations. Sound makes us individuals. Sound provides you with information about the world around you.
At OpenStack Summit during one of the keynotes, the winners of a hackathon in Japan presented their winning project – and let’s face it, startup weekend is a hackathon for companies – and their winning project involved music. It was some sort of glove that a musician wore that wrote down the notes instantly as he improved them. The applications for this for music and movement therapy are limitless. Not to mention the composition aspects.
It was INCREDIBLE.
And then a friend mentioned StartUp Weekend Groningen is coming up. The timing was surreal.
I can’t go.
Cause I’ll be out of the country.
But you could. And I highly recommend it. So, GO.
This Friday there’s a Launch Party.
