What is Your Armageddon Agenda?

I just figured something out.

I’m slow sometimes.

#PBBT

At a certain time, people started scolding me whenever I would shake their hands, but they would scold me with a dash of embarrassment and humour.

The Dutch Prime Minister… announced no more shaking hands. And then shook hands. And then laughed about it. And then touched the health worker. MORE. And then walked off screen with his ARM AROUND HIS NECK.

So that’s where we are now.

Last night my partner sat me down and had #SeriousTalks with me.

I was fairly calm about the whole thing, if I do say so myself.

But this morning I woke up.

And now I can’t even.

Like, seriously.

It did not help that I went to the grocery store this morning with boy twin who was freaking out about absolutely everything (in sync with mama’s freak out?) and there were entire food groups missing from the shelves.

Like milk.

There was no milk.

I bought the last package of bell peppers. And the last package of potatoes. And the last package of avocados.

ASIDE: there was plenty of toilet paper and hand soap and bread. Yay?

It also sunk in – no more gym. No more cafes. No more therapist. No more visiting friends at houses.

No more hugs.

I’ve been cuddling the kids like mad today. Especially boy twin cause he still LOVES cuddles.

Girl twin is too cool for school. Always has been.

A is too old for cuddles.

Most of the time.

But boy twin thinks cuddles are the bee’s knees.

People, I need touch like an addict needs caffeine.

I went on a walk with a friend (hi, A!) who pointed out that making a schedule in this new reality might help. That resonates.

I’ve got so many things that I did out in public SPECIFICALLY because I work from home, isolated, and have depression, so this is what my M-F schedule WAS:

  • 0645-0815 Morning Rush Hour (get kids up and off to their places)
  • 0815-0900 Eat Breakfast / Write at Cafe
  • 0900-1000 Cardio or Strength Training at the Gym
  • 1000-1730 Work
  • 1730-2000 Evening Rush Hour (pick kids up and into bed)
  • 2000-2200 Work
  • 2200 Bed

And so the new reality will be… something… like… this?

  • 0645-0815 Morning Rush Hour (get kids up and off to their places)
  • 0815-0900 Eat Breakfast / Write at the Kitchen Table
  • 0900-1000 Cardio or Strength Training Outside
  • 1000-1730 Work
  • 1730-2000 Evening Rush Hour (pick kids up and into bed)
  • 2000-2200 Work
  • 2200 Bed

Oh.

Oh, I can totally do that.

I just need to get social things incorporated OFFICIALLY into my daily work schedule. Like office hours or something. Or a time when my video account is open for an hour here and / or there throughout the day for “water cooler” chats.
